MarkForge respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you visit MarkForge.app and use the MarkForge PDF-to-Markdown conversion tool.
1. Local Document Processing
MarkForge is designed so that PDF-to-Markdown conversion takes place directly in your web browser.
When you select or drag a PDF into MarkForge:
- Your PDF is processed locally on your device.
- Your PDF is not uploaded to MarkForge servers for conversion.
- Extracted document text is not sent to MarkForge servers.
- Generated Markdown is not stored by MarkForge.
- MarkForge does not retain copies of the documents you convert.
Closing or refreshing your browser clears the active document from the application unless your browser itself retains temporary data.
2. Information MarkForge Does Not Intentionally Collect
MarkForge currently does not require:
- User accounts
- Names
- Email addresses
- Payment information
- Document uploads
- Marketing profiles
- Analytics accounts
- Advertising cookies
MarkForge does not sell or rent your PDF content or generated Markdown.
If you voluntarily contact MarkForge by email, your email address and the contents of your message may be retained as necessary to respond to your inquiry and maintain normal business records.
3. Hosting and Technical Information
Like most websites, the infrastructure used to deliver MarkForge may automatically process basic technical information when you visit the site.
This may include information such as:
- IP address
- Browser type
- Device or operating-system information
- Date and time of a request
- Requested page or resource
- Referring page
- Basic server-access information
This technical information may be processed by MarkForge's hosting provider for purposes such as delivering the website, maintaining security, troubleshooting problems, and preventing abuse.
MarkForge is currently hosted using Hostinger infrastructure.

These third parties do not receive your PDF document or generated Markdown from MarkForge as part of the document-conversion process.

5. Cookies, Local Storage, and Analytics
MarkForge currently does not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics tools to track how individual visitors use the service.
The application may use browser storage for functional purposes, such as remembering your preferred light or dark theme.
If analytics, advertising, account functionality, or other tracking technologies are introduced in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.
6. PDF and Markdown Content
You are responsible for the documents you choose to process using MarkForge.
Because document conversion occurs locally in your browser, MarkForge does not have access to the contents of the PDFs you process through the converter.
You should still use appropriate care when handling confidential, proprietary, personal, or sensitive information on any computer or web browser.
7. Data Sales and Sharing
MarkForge does not sell users' PDF contents, Markdown output, or document information.
MarkForge does not intentionally share document contents with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing companies.
Technical service providers may process ordinary web-request information as necessary to operate and deliver the website.
8. Children's Privacy
MarkForge is a general-purpose document utility and is not specifically directed toward children under 13.
MarkForge does not knowingly request personal information from children through accounts, registration forms, or document uploads to its servers.
9. Security
MarkForge is designed to minimize the amount of user information handled by the service by performing document conversion locally in the browser.
No internet service can guarantee absolute security, and users remain responsible for maintaining appropriate security on their own devices, browsers, and files.

MarkForge may contain links to third-party websites, products, or services.
MarkForge is not responsible for the privacy practices of external websites. You should review the privacy policies of any third-party services you choose to use.
11. Future Advertising, Affiliate, and Paid Features
